Enterprise Education/Training Modules

AFTER 3 YEARS OF STUDYING YOUTHS INVOLVEMENT IN THE SOCIAL AND THE COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE INDUSTRIES IN CAMEROON, THE YOUTH SOCIAL EMTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM UNDER THE AUSPICES OF FYCB CAMEROON HAS DIAGNOSED THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS IMPEDING DEVELOPMENT IN THIS SECTOR

  1. Limited financial and material resources for start-up, growth, expansion and sustainability of youth run enterprises
  2. Limited capacity for managing, growing and attracting financial, material and human resources for starting and running of youth enterprises

MODULE 1 ENTREPRENEURSHIP BUSINESS START UP SECRETS

PROGRAME: Entrepreneurship Business Start up Secrets

BENEFICIARIES:  Common Initiative groups, Associations, NGOs, small/medium sized Enterprises, Business operators

DURATION: One day

PROFILE: PROGRAM to be moderated by a facilitator. Instruction and interactive sessions be conducted together

RATIONALE:  to equip participants all the necessary secrets in starting up a business and running a successful business

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

  • Participants understand why they want to be entrepreneurs
  • Participants understand the 7 steps involved in entrepreneurship
Participants understand goal setting task management and decision making techniques

  • Participants understand Employee management techniques and the essence of outsourcing in business
  • Participants understand Capital raising Strategies and money management techniques

MODULE 2; STARTING MY OWN BUSINESS PART II.

Programme: STARTING MY OWN SMALL BUSINESS

Beneficiaries: Higher secondary-level students in technical and vocational education

Duration: Flexible. Short semester

Profile: Programme to be moderated by a facilitator. Instruction and interactive to be conducted together sessions

Rationale:

To equip learners completing TVET with the self-awareness, knowledge and acumen to consider self-employment a viable career

.General objectives:

1.   Understand the concepts of business and entrepreneurship.

2.   Know the skills that contribute to entrepreneurship and recognize them in oneself.

3.   Know the basic requirements for launching a small business. 

4.   Know how to translate a commercial idea into a business plan.

5.   Know how ICT can be used in a small business.

MANAGING AN ENTERPRISE/INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITY

PROGRAME: INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITY (IGA) MANAGEMENT

BENEFICIARIES:  Common Initiative groups Enterprise Management in the Informal Sector

DURATION:  3 – 5 days

 PROFILE: PROGRAM to be moderated by a facilitator. Instruction and interactive sessions be conducted together

 RATIONALE:  to equip participants with the knowledge and skills in implementing and managing enterprise/Income Generating Activity, so as to minimize common business risks and give room for expansion plans

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

1.    Participants understands the concepts of IGA

2.    Participants understand the motives  and groundses of doing and IGA, and the types of IGA’s that are good within a particular setting

3.    Participants know the golden rules, the some frequently asked questions and the structure defined for NGO’s

4.    HOW DO I DO AN IGA? Participants know the concepts of doing an IGA  and business planning techniques and implementing business

5.    Participants know why IGA’s fail

MODULE 2; STARTING MY OWN BUSINESS PART I

Programme: STARTING MY OWN SMALL BUSINESS

Beneficiaries: Non-formal learners of all ages and educational backgrounds

Duration: Flexible. As appropriate to the group of learners. Each unit may be discussed for at least 1 hour.

Rationale:

To help learners to become aware of their own knowledge and skills and to develop the acumen to consider entrepreneurship a viable career choice

General objectives:

  1. Know one’s own knowledge, skills, aptitudes and values.
  2. Understand elementary business dynamics.
  3. Know how to manage a small business.
  4. Know how to translate a commercial idea into a business plan.
5.   Know how ICT can be used in a small business.
